Tish Note - February 2022

February 2022

Hi friends,

Here’s a note to say a quick hello and to let you know what I’ve been up to and what’s coming up in mundotish.

First of all, Happy 2022! I hope this new year brings you much health and happiness! I leaped in to the new year with, like many of you, lots of good intentions and resolutions. Some I have been diligently continuing and some have waned. Maybe that’s a good thing about making lots of resolutions – if you stick with 50% then you’re doing ok. That’s one positive way of seeing things. Don’t be too hard on yourselves, these are tough times we’re going through.

I am busy with home projects, family, and with getting ready for gigs that are finally beginning to appear on my calendar - Still keeping fingers crossed that we’ll continue to get freer from Covid cautions and restrictions. Please check the tour dates section of my website for details of some exciting shows coming up:

March 12 in Alamosa, Colorado
A Concert For Cancer Relief with my friends Don Richmond and Eliza Gilkyson

March 19 in Tubac, Arizona with Marvin Dykhuis and Chip Dolan

April 3 in Tucson at the Tucson Folk Festival

April 9 @ the Tubac AZ Presidio

April 16 @ the Tucson AZ Presidio

May 20 and 21 - I will be in Eugene and Portland Oregon with The Texicana Mamas

June 1 @ Kerrville Folk Festival (50th Anniversary show!)

June 11 @ The Bugle Boy in La Grange, Texas (Tickets on sale April 18)

August 5 and 6 @ The Sugar Maple Festival in Madison, Wisconsin

I hope you’ll be able to make it to one or more of these shows. We’ll sure love to see you there!

I have taken time out in January and February to take care of a physical health issue I’ve been walking around with for quite a while. I’ve had old injury and arthritis issues going on in my right hand and went ahead with surgery on my right thumb. Surgery went well, the cast is off now, and it is healing nicely. I’m in a hand brace and am doing therapy now to strengthening it so I can be ready to play guitar on the upcoming gigs. Luckily, I’m left handed, so I am not totally disabled. However, I play guitar right handed and my strumming and picking work is on hold.

Apart from allowing myself to be a couch potato binging on TV for a couple of weeks, I kept my laptop and art supplies handy, working on writing and art projects. In the coming months, I plan to do some recording with Marvin Dykhuis. I am also in touch with my Texicana Mamas sisters as we are planning some new recording and video projects with our group this year as well. The year is an open canvas waiting for creativity that will fill it up.

As I close this note, besides wishing you all much love, health, and happiness, let’s all say a prayer for Ukraine, and for peace to overcome. I hope to see you down the road!

Abrazos,

Tish
