Happy Holidays! Feliz Navidad! Schöne Feiertage!

I hope you are doing well.

It is early December. I just had my 54th birthday! Holidays are here! YEA!! I really do like having a birthday at this time. In early December, people are excited about "the season". Christmas lights are all working, decorations are fresh and shiny, we are thrilled at the sight of tamales and holiday food, and people are in shopping mode (a plus for early December birthdays!).

Every year now seems to be packed with more and more memories and at a quicker pace. I don't know if this is just my life or our times. From where I stand, 2010's months look like they will fill so predictable, easily, and quickly, and before long, 2011 will be upon us. Looking back over the past eleven months, however, I see that time doesn't make it that easy on us, and most of what happened this year was not predictable. On 2009's calendar, some days seem like they were years ago, and some like they were just yesterday. Hundreds of big and little, happy and sad, planned, and certainly many unplanned events have brought us lots to reflect upon, news to discuss, and stories to tell.

I am very excited about a Holiday Season event coming up soon in Austin. The Long Center for the Performing Arts downtown Austin will be the site for a sparkling music, dance, and fun extravaganza called "A Texas Christmas Carol". These evening and matinee shows will run December 29, 2009 through January 3, 2010. I am very happy to be included in the program to perform some of my own Holiday songs, with a full musical ensemble including Marvin Dykhuis on an array of musical instruments, and Chip Dolan on keyboard and accordion. Other notable performers will be PBS's acclaimed "Biscuit Brothers", "Ballet Austin", "Austin Lyric Opera", "The Amazing Grace Gospel Singers", and each show will have a surprise guest star. Please go here for more information about this show that I'm sure you will love. I hope to see you there.

My new year will get started with a show in Denver, Colorado at Swallow Hill on January 9th, 2010. So if you are in that part of the country, I hope you will join me. Swallow Hill is a long time favorite venue of mine. They take great care in making the audience comfortable and in presenting the music at its best. This will be an intimate acoustic solo performance. Amy Speace will be opening the show. I am sure you will enjoy her music too.

Please visit my little store, "Tiendita Tish" for CDs, "Tishshirts" and other special items. We are well stocked now, and even some of the more rare and hard to find CDs are available.

Thanks for reading my corner here at Mundotish.com. I wish you all a safe and lovely Christmas season and all the best in the New Year!
